Gemstar founders met the President of Zambia at King David Hotel

On 31 July 2023 we had a wonderful meeting with His Excellency, the President of Zambia, Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, and his team.

As past part-owners of Kagem Mine in the Kafubu area and lifelong manufacturers of Zambian emeralds, it was our great pleasure to learn that His Excellency shares our enthusiasm for natural emeralds.

His Excellency was also familiar with “Chipembele,” the largest uncut emerald in the world, according to Guinness World Records™. Chipembele weighs 7,525 carats and was found at Kagem Mine in Zambia.

We discussed present and future collaborations and different ways to market Zambian emeralds for the benefit of our industry and the people of Zambia.

We also discussed our copper mining operation, which is situated within the renowned Konkola section of the Kafue Anticline in the Zambian Copper Belt. Copper is one of the best renewable resources, one of the few materials that can be recycled repeatedly without a loss in performance.

Gemstar 🇮🇱 has been doing business with Zambia 🇿🇲 during the last 50 years, and look forward to the next 50 years – we are confident they will be amazing.
